Hi all, I'm new to the forum and to Thailand. We have travelled to Bali around 9 times & thought it was time to check out another country. Know everything there is to know about Bali & really don't know that much about Thailand. We are going to Bangkok & Phuket for our 20 year wedding anniversary the start of November staying 2 nights Siam@Siam in Bangkok and 7 nights at the Patong Merlin in a pool view room. Can anyone tell me how the reno works are going &whend do you think it will be completed by? and which block would be better to stay in? Also could anyone recommend a nice restaurant on the beach where we can celebrant our anniversary. Thanks

I got back from Phuket about a week or so ago and I stayed at the Patong Merlin. They are only doing 1 building and it was all internal. You would never know they were going on until you walk past them and see the guys working in there or sitting on the balcony having a break.

The renos were not a problem. I stayed in Building 2 with a Pool View Room on the 3rd floor and it was great, I definately got fit going up the stairs. There are lifts but the are in Building 5 and the rooms that are above the lobby.

You will Love it there with 3 pools you'll always get a spot.

I prefer buildings 4,5 or 6 overlooking the top pool near reception. Building 4 is the one that is getting the renos at the moment and will be finished in August. Building 4 is my favourite. Building 6 looks down the lentgh of the grounds and 3 pools to the beach but gets the full sun in the afternoon and can make sitting on the balcony at this time uncomfortable.
Great pools, breakfast and lovely grounds, you's will love it.

All the restaurants that are actually on the beach in Patong are at the northern end past Bangla rd.

Hope you's have a great time and happy anniversary when it comes....Ronnie.
