Hi, I an an Indian, and I may travel to Bangkok for a period of 6 months. I would like to know the different languages spoken in Bangkok and Thailand, other than the Thai languages. What is the proportion of English speaking crowd in Thailand. I have been to countries in Europe, and seen that very few people actually speak or understand English there. Just am worried that it shall not be the case in Bangko as well.

In Thailand mostly people speak Thai but from my experience even though they cant but they always try their best to talk to you very nice and friendly people though. But if you are worried about that, I suggest you to learn Thai instead, not that difficult and also useful too. I am learning in one school around Ratchadapisek road, not far from my place..The school name is "my thailanguage school" their website in case you are interested http://www.mythailanguage.com
