Hello,
I made online bookings for my family on Air Asia for our onward journey from Bangkok to Phuket.
Our scheduled arrival at Bangkok Airport (Suvarnabhumi) is at 0630 hrs and our flight to Phuket departs at 0750 hrs. Is that enough time for us to get our luggage, clear immigration and rush to Air Asia's domestic counter or is the time gap too short?
Please advise as we dont wanna miss our flight as I just read on the Air Asia site that check-in counters close 45 mins before the flight departs.
Thanks.

Hi Love Bangkok. You may only just make it if you mnake it at all. Suvarnabhumi is quite large, and since you are flying in on international and out on domestic, you probalby have a 15- 20 min wwalk ahead of you not including the time it takes to come out of customs get bags etc. I would change to a later flight. It may cost more now to do that but believe me the alternative, not going to to phuket, will be far worse cheers Kylez

That is going to be very tight. I agree that changing to a later flight is the best option.

Hi there, I have a similar flight scheldule with Thai Airways. Leaving Brisbane then arriving in Bangkok at 559hrs and departing for Phuket at 730 hrs. I was to believe the Airline transfers your luggage to the domestic Airlines without you worrying about collection, until you get to Phuket. You may need to arrange this at your departing terminal. Double check this as I may be wrong. I'm now a little concerned myself as our time gap is tight as well. I would suggest you ring Air Asia or ask on departing, I am going to now ring Thai Airways and check there procedure on transfers from International to Domestic. Good luck. DEllO

Hi Again, I can now comfirm for any one travellering Thai Airlines from Brisbane and has booked to travel Brisbane - Bankgok - Phuket on the one ticket, then all you need to do is present this ticket to the check in counter in Brisbane and they will through check your bags to Phuket. You will clear customs and immigration in Phuket. This could be the same with most Airlines. Plus for those who haven't purchased ticket this is something to keep in mind.Hopefully this will save a lot of time getting to your domestic flight. DELLO

The only thing I don't like about the new airport at Suvarnabumi is the free-for-all type queueing system. I would have thought that whoever designed a state-of-the-art airport like this, would have created an orderly queueing system.
In my opinion, the old airport used to much easier to get through, so leave extra time, just in case you get stuck at the back of the crowd.
