Hi all
My hubby and I will be in bangkok soon and will have a few appointments to go to that are north of Chatuchuk, another one in Rathawithi Road (near zoo) and i think 2 at the Australian embassy. Now I'm trying to figure out the best place to stay for approx 10 days. We'd like a place that isnt in the middle of nowhere, but it doenst have to be that close to the skytrain as we figured out its easier just to catch a taxi places instead. Around 2000 baht a night and I'd prefer a pool and free wifi/internet connection.

Will it be easier to get around if we stay in Silom as opposed to Sukhumvit because of the traffic? Most of the appointments will need to be on time and I dont want to be late stuck in traffic.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate hearing them.

Thanks for listening to my rambling.

Given your appointments and other activities in Bangkok, you would be better off staying in the Siam Centre area. Otherwise, since you don't mind taking cabs, Bangkok City Suite Hotel would be worth checking out. It doesn't have a pool, but wifi/internet is free. What's more, the rate is very reasonable, especially if you'll be staying for more than a week. Just google the name of the hotel and its website will be on top of the list.

If you will be taking cabs from the Silom area going to north of Chatuchak, you will most definitely pass through a number of traffic bottlenecks. The same can be said with Sukhumvit, although making a short cut via the expressway will help cut down the travel time.
