My girlfriend and I are hoping to book a holiday somewhere in Phuket for the last week of June and first week of July. One thing that we would really like to be able to do is snorkel off the beach. We have read all over the internet different stories of where you can and cant swim at certain times of year. We understand that the time of year we are intending to go will be in the "monsoon season" and as such snorkeling will apparently not be possible off of some beaches.
We were hoping someone on this forum may be able to advise if there are any beaches in Phuket which we will be able to snorkel on at this time of year? If not how about somewhere like Krabi or Koh Samui or other similar location?
Thanks for any help, its much appreciated!!

Sorry, no snorkeling of the beach in July. Even if the weather conditions allow it, what does happen quite often, the visibility will be lousy. Your best bet would probably be the Southern end of Kata Beach.
Best place for snorkeling in July from Phuket: Racha Yai and Racha Noi, with also Phi Phi a nice alternative, but quite far.

Did the snorkelling off Phi Phi last week and it was ok, but having dived off racha yai I wold definately recommend it for snorkelling as visibility was amazing. Adrian
