Hi All,
Im planning to go to Langkawi with my family for a week or 3d2n. There are five of us.All adults. Which is the best and affordable hotel?
Just curious what is the budget for the holiday. Is SGD1k enough?

Well, the last time we went to Langkawi was around a year ago. My family of six including 2 children below 10 years and 2 elderlies cost approx SGD600. That excluded accomodation and car rental.We stayed at the Hotel Langkasuka(3* hotel)in a family suite for 3D2N. We asked for an additional bed and that came up to approx SGD380 (cannot remember exactly). We booked the room through AsiaWebDirect.Good price and we had the 'upgraded' free Western breakfast rather than the local breakfast. The family room was spacious and clean with two Queensize beds.However, there is almost no other activities at the hotel. The beach was not clean and my kids spent their time mostly at the small pool. However,we rented a car to go round the island. We rented a really rundown car(we were cheapskate)for MYR60/day from a car rental service near the jetty. It was peak season (usually MYR100/day and above)but we managed to bargain for a lower price.There are many places on the island that you can visit as you drive round at a leisurely pace. As our trip was short we rushed around to get to as many places as possible. Even then, we did not manage to finish sightseeing at all the places in Langkawi and we intended to go again.So,my suggestion is get a cheaper but clean accomodation and save your money for the sightseeing and shopping.Yeah! Get a better car too. The last one was a boneshaker! Have a safe trip!
