Has anyone stayed at the Salathai Patong beach? How far is it from the beach and what are the rooms like etc.
thanks Lorraine

Hi Lorraine, the position of the Salathai looks good. The website tells the truth it would only be 2 mins to the beach, you would turn left out of the resort cross beach road and about another 50 m you will be on the beach. Rooms and rates on the website look good, not sure how the rooms would have a beach view though as there are buildings between the resort and the beach, and as the website says its low rise that doesn't make sence.

Hi Lorraine,
The Royal Phawadee is just across the road - and IMO is much nicer - very authentic Thai and it had a nicer "feel" than the Salathai - I looked at both last year. They are very similar in price.
Also, the Thara Patong is next door to the Salathai - much larger but quite nice if you like a more family type place.
If you are not worried about being close to the beach, the Nipa Resort is new and has fantatic cheap rates - just google Nipa Resort and it will come up.
They even have "deluxe pool access" for about 2,100THB per night.
Cheers,
Sandy

Thank you for replying. I was also wondering how they would have a beach view as I too was familiar with the area. Maybe you need to ask the monkey boys for a lend of their parachutes. I will also have a look at the Thara Patong as I am looking for cheap accommodation for 4 uni students. cheers

I agree with Travelsandy The Thara Patong looks good so to does the Royal Phawadee. Yes Parachutes might help with sea view.
There is good cheap accomadation at the Swiss Palm resort, seems very good. Have a look at CathyP's website she has photos and a review on it.

Ive just looked at the Thara Patong, it looks more upmarket and the price is right with free nights it's nearly the same as the Salathai.
I think they may change their mind now!!!!!

Hi again
My son returned yesterday from Phuket after 11 nights at the Thara patong and I just wanted to give some feedback on the accommodation. Thanks to all that replied. They had a wonderful time. The accommodation they said was on par with the Patong Merlin as my son had stayed at the Patong Merlin on previous occassions. The rooms were clean and kept well. They said that the pool area was also just as good and for the cost it was great. My son went with a 3 others from UNI therefore had limited funds. The cost for 11 nights with breakfast came to $260 Australian per person - what a bargin. The breakfast buffet was smaller but just as good - We booked the accommodation on Asia Web Direct and had no problems with the booking
thanks Regards Lorraine
