Authentic Handmade Sculptures, Art, etc?

Just wondering where you guys would suggest places in town where I could get a memento of my trip to Singapore. Something handmade. A smalls sculpture. Wood carvings. Brass statue. Bronze. Whatever, but it would need to be authentic and hand made. Not mass produced that you see all over the place.
Also - what would you say Singapore is known for art-wise? I am in Thailand now and their big thing seems to be wood carvings of Buddha's and Elephants. that seems to be the "Thai" thing. Elephant statues, Wood, etc. What is Singapore? Whats their medium for scuplting? Wood? Brass? Bronze? Gold? Jade? ... and what symbols?
