So far, I have never received feedbacks like this from friends and relatives who have stayed at Asia Hotel. Regardless, I believe that it is always the owner's responsibility to take care of/secure his/her belongings inside the hotel room, especially during the daytime when room cleaning is always made. Leaving your valuables scattered around the room is a big no-no wherever you stay.

i guess you won't be enjoying much of your sightseeing tours if you'll end up constantly worrying about your bags in the room. just don't leave the valuables behind if it makes you feel any better, and make sure you get a unit with in-room safe for your added peace of mind.

Hi
I just got back from the Asia Hotel last week. I stayed there for 5 days and had no problems. There is a safe in the room. So you can leave your valuables there. My bag was not touched although I left it open in addition to leaving clothes all over the room.

here is the reviews that i was talking about . is it true that everytime you leave the hotel you have to leave your room key with the front desk??
Someone or a group of people with an access to our room key entered between 6:45-10PM (while we're gone for dinner) without a prior knowledge/consent trespassing and opened up the luggages taking personal valuables too large for the tiny safety box. Fifteen days after this horrific incident, all levels of the hotel management still refuses to ackowledge basic hotel guest rights of room privacy and building security/safety. Needless to say, my wife and I woud ask anyone considering Asia Hotel to not lodge there. Do not stay at Asia Hotel Bangkok (296 Phaya Thai Road)! Someone with a hotel key came into our room during a 3 hour absence and removed all of our valuables. They left the camera and video case so that we would not notice that we had been robbed (I'm assuming they didn't want to be caught with the merchandise with them at work). We reported it as soon as we figured it out the next morning. The security manager just walked me to the key counter and left, I had to ask for a manager, then he came back and we asked for the police they played dumb, but we didn't give up finally they say "you'll have to pay the taxi ride there and back", we said no problem. Now it gets shadier because the security manager and the translation guy are talking in Thai, my husband wrote up the information and the translator translated it to Thai then the police rewrite it, come to find out they added a sentence saying we were not pursing an investigation! So not true and we only found out when a friend had a Thai lawyer look at it. We had to push them every step of the way to investigate it! It was a waste of our time and energy because they don't care and I would suspect they are a few employees involved in this ring of thieves.

Hi
When I stayed there in March 2007, they gave you a key for the room. So you could either leave it at reception or keep it with you when you go out.
However, when I stayed there this year (March 2008 - last week), they gave me a card to swipe in order to access the room. So I guess that they have now changed from a key to a card system. You just keep this card in your wallet when you go out. Its very convenient.
