Hi Guys
We are traveling to Penang in end of Oct. We are looking for a driver for a day to take us around the island.
Could some recent travellers please advise if they have any favourites?
I am hoping for someone with at least average english skills and a friendly personality! Also what is an approximate cost for a day?

We are frequent travellers to Penang and have for the last 5/6 years used the same guy he has worked for different firms but now is working for himself .
His English is OK , he understands and can converse , and he knows his way around , all short cuts , so you are never , usually stuck in traffic .
His name Rashid and he has just bought a brand new a/c vehicle .
His cell/hand/mobile number is +6016
His rate to us is RM25 per hour and he has never charged us for any parking fees , they are everywhere and can add up , but for an all day trip the rate could be different .
Coincidence , Rashid just phoned to say hello and he is looking forward to the end of Ramadan as it is a holiday and there will be a big feast .
I took the liberty of passing your name to him so that if you phone he will know where you got his name from , my name by the way is Alan .
Forgot to say he also does airport trnsfers at the same rate as voucher system and you do not have to out up with surly drivers , driving what can only be described as heaps , some not all .

Hi Alanh
we are two ladies who will be staying at the E and O in Penang in Feb08 for 3 weeks. We too are looking for a reliable and honest driver for a number of days whilst we are staying there. I would be very grateful for any of the driver's details please.

Hello
I am travelling to Malaysia in June visiting Penang then KL on the way home. I would be interested in a driver whilst in Penang and any tips you have for my visit. I am staying at the Golden Sands for 5 days and whilst I do not want to spend every day sightseeing I would like to see points of interest. I am also thinking of visiting Georgetown - do you need a day to look around?

Hi Rayma and Tortoise
My family just got back from our first visit to Penang. We used a company named Ocean Jupiter's and had a driver named Gani. I could not speak more highly of Gani and the professionalism of the company. Gani drove us on four occasions, we had an eight seater van due to being five of us. It was extremely comfortable with great airconditioning. Gani was wonderful, always able to offer advise if required on places to see and things to do, while also being willing to go anywhere that we wanted. He went out of his way to get my kids to see monkeys after they were very disappointed with the lack of them at the Botanical Gardens.
The charges were RM35 per hour for a van, and I believe it is RM25 for a car.
